Rob has been in the air since he became a flight attendant in 1998 before becoming a pilot in 2003.

He met Sara in 2011, and that same year they decided to learn how to make beer. He started taking courses for brewing and in 2013 he became Head Brewer at BJ's Restaurant and Brewery in Chandler, AZ. During his time with BJ’s he also worked to develop key relationships with valley breweries such as Huss, San Tan, The Perch, McFate, and BRI by trading raw materials and supplying yeast when needed and offering various brewing techniques. In 2014, Rob and Sara moved to Hawaii where Rob was a pilot and Sara was a nurse. They decided to come back to Arizona to get back into the brewing business.

Combined with Rob’s love for being a pilot and sharing two basset hounds with Sara, named Lt. Dan and Angela, the name of Flying Basset was created. When not at the brewery, Rob is a pilot for Sierra Pacific and Sara is an RN and ICU Manager at a local hospital. They are eager to share their passion of what the brewing industry has to offer!
